Landfill Information & Schedule

Bagged Leaves Can Be Dropped off at No CostLeaves and brush are only picked up during the fall. Residents may bring all bagged leaves and brush to the landfill at no cost all year. Do not leave brush at curb.

Please utilize the landfill; this service is free for residents.

Christmas trees can be brought to the landfill.

No disposal of roofing materials will be permitted.

You must be a resident of East Haven to use the landfill and the materials must come from an East Haven residence. Please provide proof of this in the form of a valid Connecticut driver's license or a property tax bill at the time of entry.

There are no exceptions to this. Even if using vehicle with dealer plates or renting a vehicle, some sort of paperwork stating vehicle's gross weight must be presented to purchase pass.

Physical "Dump passes" no longer available. Passes are no longer needed. You can go directly to the landfill. Payments are accepted right at the town landfill for those vehicles requiring payment to enter. Debit or credit cards will be the forms of payment accepted. No cash or checks will be accepted.

Landfill Rates

Please note, costs are at the discretion of the landfill operators.

  • Automobiles designed primarily for private passenger use, SUVs, and passenger plate vans, provided such vehicles are not equipped with a trailer: $25
  • Single rear wheel axle pickup trucks without modified beds, and commercial plate cargo vans: $50
  • Pickup trucks with dual rear wheel axles and or modified beds, and trailers, all of which are less than gross vehicle weight of 12,000 pounds: $75
  • Vehicles larger than pickup trucks, including dump trucks and masonry trucks, and trailers, all of which are gross vehicle weight of 12,000 pounds. The vehicle cannot exceed the 12,000-pound limit: $150

Brush, Leaves, Scrap Wood, Tree Limbs

Brush, leaves, shrubbery, small tree limbs, tires, electronics are free provided that they enter the landfill in either a private passenger automobile, SUV, van, or a single rear wheel axle pickup truck weighing less than 12,000 pounds and without modified beds or trailers.

Appliances & Household Debris

Air Conditioners, Books/Magazines, Box Springs, Cardboard, Clothing/Rags, Dishwashers, Dryers, Furniture, Hot Water Heaters/Hot Water Tanks, Humidifiers, Lawn Furniture, Microwaves, Refrigerators, Rugs/Padding, Stereos/Televisions/VCRs, Stoves, Washers

Miscellaneous Items

Broken Glass, Windows, Doors, Fencing, Grills, Lawn Mowers, Snow Blowers, Scrap Metal, Tools, Metal Piping, Old Pool Filter/Pool Parts, Plastic Toys, Plastic Bins/Containers, Scrap Plastic, Scrap Metal, Tools, Porcelain Toilet Bowls, Sinks, Etc.

Building Materials

Construction, Demolition Materials, Plaster, Sheetrock, Ceiling Tiles, Gravel, Rocks, Stones, Brick, and Insulation Materials.

Hazardous Waste

Cans of paint can not be disposed of at the landfill. The Regional Water Authority will accept hazardous waste.
