East Haven Real Property Assessment Increase Deferral Program

FACTS ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  1. Any East Haven business or industrial zoned property owner or any owner of an existing apartment building or structure being converted to elderly housing may apply for the town council and State of Ct. approved tax assessment deferral program
  2. Nearly all medium to large size towns and cities in Ct have enacted the same,or similar legislation, in their community as an economic development tool.
  3. The program is intended to be both an inducement for existing businesses and companies to enhance or expand their facilities in town and for companies interested in relocating to East Haven to come here.
  4. The tax assessment deferral program only applies to new construction and/or renovations and the amount of the deferral is based solely on how much money is actually invested. It does NOT defer or abate any current or existing real or personal property taxes.
  5. Presently East Haven business/industrial property owners interested in the program must apply for it by submitting the required forms to the tax assessor for review and approval. Application forms and instructions can be obtained in the tax assessor’s office.
