Urban Renewal

The Town of East Haven has funding available to income-eligible homeowners to perform specific repairs to their home.

The Program provides funding to income-eligible property owners for housing-related repairs. Property owners must meet income guidelines based on household size to participate. Additional requirements include sufficient equity and paid property taxes. Income limits are based on gross income for all household members over the age of 18 who are not full-time students. A 1-person household can earn up to $62,600, 2-person: $71,500, 3-person: $80,500, 4-person: $89,400, 5-person: $96,600 and 6-person: $103,750.

Eligible repairs include roofing, siding, new doors and windows, plumbing, electrical and heating upgrades to mention a few. Additional improvements such as water and sewer connections, life safety and code compliance are also eligible.

Funding is provided as a 0% interest, deferred payment loan, to owner-occupied residents. Low-interest loans are available to investors provided certain requirements are met. Deferred payment loans require no monthly payments and accrue no interest. Payment is due upon transfer of title, sale of property, refinance, if the property is no longer their primary residence or upon the owner's demise.

Applications are available at the Mayor's Office. Applications are addressed on a first come, first served basis and funding is limited. For additional information, contact Michelle Benivegna.
